The actress took to Instagram on Sunday night and wrote: “You took Ken to the Oscar awards, RG. “Now come home, we have to put the kids to bed.” He also shared a photo of her wearing Gosling’s iconic, bedazzled, custom pink Gucci blazer from her performance, along with a black cowboy hat.
Along with Gosling, Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt performed Greta Gerwig’s hit song. Barbie, other Kens from the film also joined them on stage, including Simu Liu, Kingsley Ben-Adir and Ncuti Gatwa. Slash also made a special appearance.
“I’m Just Ken” was nominated for best original song at this year’s Oscars, although the award ultimately went to “What was I made for?” by Billie Eilish and Finneas. Gosling also received a best supporting actor nomination for Ken in Barbiebut the Oscar went to Robert Downey Jr. by oppenheimer.
Throughout the 2024 awards season, Mendes has shown his support for Gosling. In January, he took to social media to address some of the criticisms the actor initially received when he took on the role of Ken in Barbie.
She wrote at the time: “I am so proud of my man. A lot of hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it. Despite all the mockery of #Notmyken and the articles written about him, she created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, and now iconic character and carried him all the way to the Oscars. “I am beyond proud to be Ken’s Barbie.”
