Richarlison scored twice on his return to Goodison Park but Tottenham coughed up the lead twice as Everton scored a dramatic late equalizer.
Richarlison scored a beautiful volley early on to make it 1-0 as he refused to celebrate either of his goals. Jack Harrison then tapped home to equalize for Everton as their in-swinging corners caused Guglielmo Vicario plenty of problems in the first half.

But Richarlison curled home a sublime second before half time and it looked like being the winner until Jarrad Branthwaite headed home in the 94th minute.
The point moves Everton out of the relegation zone as they’re on 19 points. Tottenham are on 44 points as they remain in the top four hunt but Ange Postecoglou’s side lost ground in their hopes to be in the title race.
Set piece chaos costs Tottenham dear
Everton had clearly targeted Vicario and their plan to whip in crosses on top of the Tottenham goalkeeper worked a treat in the first half. In the second half they stopped doing that from corners for some bizarre reason but their delivery for the late equalizer was spot on and Tottenham were punished for defending set pieces badly all game long. Ange Postecoglou will be fuming because these are basics of the game which can be taught. Yes the delivery was fantastic by Everton (who are only behind Arsenal in terms of set piece goals this season) but Tottenham shot themselves in the foot by switching off and they were bullied. Spurs surely were expecting this from Everton but they looked underprepared for the threat the Toffees have from set pieces and looked dishevelled whenever defending crosses. That fragility cost them a big three points which would have put them right in the title conversation. Cleaning up mistakes like this are vital for Tottenham if they want to finish in the top four.

Via our friends at FotMob.com you can see Spurs’ Richarlison, Maddison and Udogie had a great day in attacking areas. Everton’s Pickford was superb in goal to keep them in it and Branthwaite popped up to score the leveller after a fine defensive display, while Harrison and McNeil were excellent whipping in crosses and causing problems for the Toffees.

Everton head to Manchester City on Saturday, Feb. 10, while Tottenham host Brighton on the same day.

A free kick from the left is whipped in and Romero flicks it on as he tries to clear but the ball finds Branthwaite who heads home at the back post. Goodison goes bonkers.
Was that the chance for Everton?
Two substitutes link up as Dobbin crosses superbly and Chermiti is wide open but can’t get a strong connection on his effort from eight yards out. Replays show Chermiti may have been offside but Everton are now pushing for an equalizer late on.
Spurs pushing for the third now
James Maddison has a shot pushed away by Pickford as Werner has almost got in a couple of times and Tottenham are cranking up the pressure as they search for what would be a crucial third goal.

Richarlison is on fire and that’s nine goals in his last eight games but he hasn’t celebrated either of them today out of respect for Everton. Tottenham back ahead before half time. What a game we have at Goodison.

Oh, they’ve done it. All game long Everton have been putting corners on top of Vicario. They obviously saw a weakness in the goal Spurs conceded against Man City in the FA Cup last week when Ake nodded past Vicario. This time the ball is whipped in and hits the far post with Vicario under pressute, then the ball drops to Calvert-Lewin and Jack Harrison to tap home and the latter has been credited with the final touch.

Well, that was lovely. Fluid move down their left flank from Tottenham and Udogie cuts the ball back to Richarlison who smashes home on the volley to make it 1-0. The Brazilian was respectful in his celebrations and his fine run (that’s now eight goals in his last eight PL games) continues. What a perfect start for Spurs.

This should be a beauty at Goodison Park! Spurs are so entertaining to watch but definitely leave chances for opponents with their swashbuckling style and it’s all about whether or not Everton can make the most of the chances they will get. If they do, we’re in for a thriller. Spurs have Sarr back on the bench after international duty, while Maddison, Werner, Richarlison and Johnson starting in attack is incredibly dangerous on the counter. Harrison supporting Calvert-Lewin whenever possible is key for Everton’s hopes of moving out of the relegation zone.
