Love on screen is not so beautiful behind the scenes.

Ewan McGregor is no stranger to sex scenes and believes intimacy coordinators are a necessity on set, especially when acting alongside his wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead.

The Scottish actor, 52, and the “Birds of Prey” actress, 39, star together in the upcoming miniseries “A Gentleman in Moscow.”

McGregor recently got candid with the radio times about working with your spouse, who he married in 2022and why it felt a little awkward filming sex scenes with her in front of the film crew.

“We had an intimacy coordinator,” the “Star Wars” alum said. “It’s still necessary, because it’s also about the team, and it’s strange to be naked in front of people, it’s strange to be intimate in front of the camera.”

“If you were doing a dance scene, you would have a choreographer. “It’s an important part of the job now, because it’s someone that the director and the actors meet in the middle,” he continued.

He then explained how other younger actors, like his daughter Esther, might have felt coerced by filmmakers into filming a shot they were not comfortable with.

Therefore, intimacy coordinators are important on movie sets to ensure everyone feels comfortable with the action.

McGregor continued: “My daughter is 22. If an older, famous director walks up to a 22-year-old girl and says, ‘I want you to be naked in this scene,’ that actress might feel, ‘Oh my God, I have to do it.’ , my career could depend on it.”

“And then five years after that, he was able to look back and say, ‘I wish I hadn’t done it.’ Why am I naked in that scene? It’s unnecessary,’” he stated. “Now there’s someone he talks to whose career doesn’t depend on this person.”

Winstead and McGregor have been together since 2017, following the latter’s split from ex-wife Eve Mavrakis.

In 2021, the “Sky High” alum gave birth to her first child with McGregor, a son named Laurie.

He “Halston” actor and his eldest daughter, Clara, 28 years old, They recently starred together in the film “Bleeding Love,” portraying a father-daughter duo who embark on a journey together.

Clara and her famous dad stopped by. “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” last month, where she divulged that she was forced to watch her full-frontal nude scene in her high school health class.

He recalled watching his father’s romantic drama in 1995,“The Pillow Book” with his partners.

“Watching this one in particular was pretty memorable because when I was a senior in high school, I took a gender studies class,” she laughed at the time.

“My teacher came up to me near the end of the semester and said, ‘Listen, there’s a movie that I normally teach as part of the curriculum,’” Clara recalled. “‘Your dad is there and there’s some nudity, so I wanted to show it to you before we see it in class.'”

“And I said okay, I didn’t really think much of it, so we watched a movie called ‘The Pillow Book,’ which is a brilliant movie,” he said. “But watching that movie at 17 with your entire high school class, it’s more like they were watching me watching that movie… which was interesting.”

“A Gentleman in Moscow” begins streaming on Paramount+ on March 29.
