F2: Stanek surges to Sprint Race victory as Hadjar, Bearman and Crawford impose penalties in Melbourne

Pole-sitter Dennis Hauger had been battling with front-row teammate Andrea Kimi Antonelli in the opening laps, but the tone of the race changed after the MP Motorsport driver made his mandatory stop on lap 9.

The Norwegian went out of the race at Turn 6, causing the virtual safety car to appear. Hadjar was able to make his mandatory pit stop before the VSC deployment and returned to the circuit ahead of Antonelli to gain track position, leaving only those on the road who had not yet made their pit stops.

With some crucial overtaking maneuvers after the only safety car of the race, Hadjar began to open up a gap on those following the same strategy and ultimately finished several seconds ahead at the end.

Hitech Pulse-Eight rookie Paul Aron was also able to overtake Antonelli, braking late into Turn 11 to take the place in the closing stages.
