Meta platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Threads are currently facing technical issues, making them inaccessible to many users on Tuesday. The outage has affected the functionalities of these social media platforms.
Login issues and feed refresh issues
Users report various issues, such as logging out of their Facebook accounts, making it impossible to log back in. Similarly, Instagram users are having difficulty updating their feeds, with some people’s stories and comments not loading. Threads, an app developed by Meta, is also experiencing a complete shutdown and displays an error message upon startup.
Rapid increase in reporting
Reports on DownDetector, a website that tracks Internet service outages, increased rapidly for all three platforms after the issue began. Despite widespread user complaints, Meta has yet to officially acknowledge the issue.
Meta acknowledges service interruption through spokesperson tweet
A Meta spokesperson, Andy Stone, took to Twitter to address widespread issues users are facing when accessing the company’s services. In a tweet, Stone acknowledged the issue, saying, “We are aware that people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on this now.”
The tweet comes in response to numerous reports of users encountering difficulties accessing Meta-owned platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Threads. The outage has left many users unable to log in or update their feeds, causing frustration and concern among the user base.
