First audio trailer for Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn released

Lady Gaga will star alongside Joaquin Phoenix in Joker: Folie à Deux, Todd Phillips’ musical follow-up to his 2019 DC film.

The singer joins the sequel as Harley Quinn, and an audio preview of the star as the character has been revealed.

“You can do whatever you want… you’re the Joker,” Gaga is heard saying as Harley Quinn in a tiktok video shared by the official account of the film.

The preview was released on the same day that key art for the sequel was released. The poster shows Phoenix’s Joker dunking Gaga’s Harley Quinn in the middle of a dance.

“The world is a stage,” reads the caption on the poster.

The sequel’s cast also includes Catherine Keener, Brendan Gleeson and Zazie Beetz.

Joker: Folie à Deux is part of DC Elseworlds and is not part of the universe that Peter Safran and James Gunn have been building since they took the helm of DC Studios.

Gaga takes on the role of Harley Quinn, which Margot Robbie played in films like suicide squad (2016), Birds of prey (2020), and The suicide squad (2021). Robbie was happy that the character of Harley Quinn lived on.

“It makes me very happy because I said from the beginning, all I want is for Harley Quinn to be one of those characters, in the same way that Macbeth or Batman always goes from great actor to great actor,” Robbie said. MTV News in 2022.

Robbie continued: “It’s a huge honor to have built a solid enough foundation that Harley can now be one of those characters that other actors can try to play. I think he will do something amazing with it.”
