Gold prices on Wednesday rose by Rs 60 to Rs 65,541 per 10 gram in futures trade as speculators created new positions amid firm spot demand.

On Multi Commodity Exchange, gold contracts for April delivery traded up by Rs 60 or 0.09 per cent at Rs 65,541 per 10 grams in a trade turnover of 16,600 lots.

The new positions created by participants caused an increase in the price of gold, according to analysts.

Globally, gold futures fell 0.05 percent to $2,165.10 an ounce in New York.
