Google moved forward with its launch plans Gemini for the workspace today. The big news is the pricing information, and you can see that the Workspace pricing page is new and each plan offers a “Gemini add-on.” Google’s old enterprise AI plan, “Duet AI for Google Workspace,” is dead, though it was never released anyway.
Google has a blog post explaining the changes. Google Workspace starts at $6 per user per month for the “Starter” package, and the AI ”Add-on,” as Google calls it, costs an additional $20 per user monthly (all of these prices require an annual commitment). This is a huge price increase over Workspace’s normal bill, but AI processing is expensive. Google says this business package will allow you to “Help me write Documents and Gmail, Improved smart filler sheets and generating images in Presentations.” Also includes the “1.0 Ultra” model for the Gemini chatbot – there is a full list of features. here. This $20 plan is subject to a usage limit for Gemini AI features of “1,000 times a month“.
Gemini for Google Workspace represents a complete rebranding of the enterprise AI product and some consistency in Google’s hard-to-follow and ever-changing AI brand. Duet AI was never released to the general public. The product, announced in August, only had a “Try” link that led to a survey, and after completing it, Google would presumably contact some companies and allow them to pay for Duet AI. Gemini Business now has a checkout page and any Workspace business customer can purchase the product today with just a few clicks.
Google’s second plan is “Gemini Enterprise”, which does not include usage limits, but is also only available through a “contact us” link and not through a normal payment procedure. Enterprise costs $30 per user per month and “includes additional AI-powered meeting capabilities, where Gemini can translate subtitles in over 100 language pairs and soon even take meeting notes.”
