Gujarat Titans wicketkeeper-batsman Robin Minz met with an accident on Saturday and the 21-year-old is currently under observation. The young man was riding his Kawasaki superbike when contact with another motorcycle caused him to lose control. The news was confirmed by his father Francis Minz, who further reported that Robin only had minor “bruises” and is currently under observation.
“He lost control when his bike came into contact with another bike. At the moment there is nothing serious and it is under observation,” says Francis.
The front half of the superbike was severely damaged in the collision and the left-hander suffered some bruising to his right knee.
Minz had recently returned home after playing for Jharkhand in the Col CK Nayudu Trophy quarter-final against Karnataka. The youngster scored a brilliant 137 in the eliminator clash but his ton was not enough as Karnataka advanced after taking the lead in the first innings.
The stumper was scheduled to join the Gujarat Titans for the pre-season camp but at this stage it cannot be confirmed if there will be a delay in him linking up with the team. GT picked the aggressive batsman for Rs 3.6 crore in last year’s mini-auction and captain Shubman Gill met Minz’s father while he was leaving Ranchi after the fourth India-England Test.
Francis Minz works as a security guard at Ranchi airport and met all the Indian cricketers before they boarded the flight and spent a lot of time chatting with his son’s captain.
