Heeramandi Star Shruti Sharma REVEALS She Had Rashes After Filming Intimate Scene: ‘It Was So Hard’

Actor Shruti Sharma shared insights from an intense filming experience while working on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi’, particularly about a romantic scene with her co-star Rajat Kaul, who plays Mallikajaan’s driver Iqbal. Playing the maid to Sharmin Segal’s character, this marked Sharma’s debut in portraying such an intimate scene on screen.

During an interview with Entertainment Live, Sharma described the challenges encountered during filming. “There’s a scene between Iqbal and I where we’re romantic, which means it’s a very romantic scene,” she explained. “I had done that kind of romance for the first time on screen. We were filming and talking. And you know it was a difficult choreography, we were on top of each other,” she added.

Sharma further detailed the physical toll the scene took on him: “I had rashes on my body because it was so hard. I think we shot that scene all day and when it was over, my kajal was stained because there was dust and dirt. But the scene looks so beautiful.”

The scene in question, set in a horse shed, shows Shruti and Rajat in a tender and secret embrace in the hay, hinting at a tension-filled hidden romance. In a previous conversation with Pinkvilla, Sharma reflected on the director’s vision, expressing confidence and admiration: “If Sanjay sir has decided something, he is wise enough to choose the actors for him. I’m sure he’s pretty well thought out. You can’t question his vision. He has given history to Indian cinema. We are talking about Sanjay Sir.”

Heeramandi is now available to stream on Netflix and features a cast including Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Shekhar Suman, Adyayan Suman and Richa Chaddha in key roles. News18 Showsha gave the series 4.5 stars. About Sonakshi, the review said, “Sonakshi Sinha plays the antagonist in Heeramandi. She is dazzling, cunning and sardonic. And she fears no one. She alone fights a battle to achieve justice for her late mother and has no qualms about walking the path of vices for the same. In the end, women are much more than just tawaifs.”
