What to know
The Bucks have enjoyed a three-game homestand, but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face the Denver Nuggets at 9:00 pm ET on Monday at Ball Arena. Both teams come to the competition reinforced by victories in their previous matches.
Oddsmakers set the bar high, but the Bucks and Pelicans did not disappoint, surpassing 243 plus/minus points on Saturday. Milwaukee hurt New Orleans with a clear 141-117 victory. The Bucks brought the score to 112-87 at the end of the third, a deficit the Pelicans cut but never fully recovered from.
Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard were among the Bucks’ main playmakers, as the former posted a double-double with 30 points and 12 rebounds and the latter scored 26 points along with nine assists and six rebounds. Antetokounmpo has not dropped below ten rebounds in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Denver didn’t have much room to breathe in their game against Philadelphia on Saturday, but they still came away with a 111-105 victory. The win was just what the Nuggets needed after a 122-84 loss in their previous game.
The Nuggets’ success was the result of a balanced attack in which several players stepped up, but Nikola Jokic led the charge by posting a double-double with 26 points and 16 rebounds. Jokic has been on fire recently, having recorded ten or more rebounds in the last nine times he has played.
Milwaukee has been doing well recently, winning four of its last five games, giving a nice boost to its 32-14 record this season. As for Denver, they increased their record to 32-15 with that victory, which was their fourth in a row at home.
In this contest, the number of possessions is likely to be a major factor: the Bucks have not given the ball away easily this season, having averaged just 12.6 turnovers per game.
