Hunter Schafer Arrested Over Pro-Palestine Protest at Biden Late Night

Euphoria” star hunter schafer was among 30 protesters detained by police for participating in a pro-Palestine demonstration outside President Joe Biden’s “Late Night With Seth Meyers” appearance in New York City on Monday.

When contacted about Schafer’s involvement, an NYPD spokesperson said Variety that “a total of 30 people were arrested” after a “demonstration at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.” Those 30 people also received citations for criminal trespass.

The 25-year-old actor was protesting with the Jewish Voice for Peace organization. Schafer was photographed wearing a T-shirt that said “cease fire now” while being escorted by NYPD, in reference to the ongoing situation. War between Israel and Hamas.

Schafer’s representatives did not immediately respond to VarietyRequest for comments.

In an Instagram post featuring Schafer, Jewish Voice for Peace stated the mission of Monday’s protest. “Biden’s deadly foreign policy has financed and fueled the genocide in Gaza. 50 protesters were arrested by the NYPD and the Secret Service,” the post reads. “The president needs to start listening to the American people, not the far-right Israeli government that is indiscriminately bombing the people of Gaza, destroying 70% of the infrastructure, including hospitals, universities, and electricity and water networks.”

Biden has been criticized for how he has handled the US response to the conflict. Before appearing on “Late Night,” Biden and Meyers went out for ice creamwhere the president said he hopes a ceasefire will begin “by the end of the weekend.”

“My National Security Advisor tells me we are close. We’re not done yet,” he said. “My hope is that next Monday we will have a ceasefire.”
