“I don’t see myself anywhere. It has always been a dream of mine (to play in the World Cup with India). But I won’t think about that. If I have that opportunity, fine. If I don’t understand it, that’s okay. It’s about scoring runs for me, playing good cricket and helping my team win. That’s all I think about, no matter what party it is,” Jurel said in a chat with News 24.
Jurel faces no external competition for the T20 World Cup team but also within his IPL team, Rajasthan Royals. One of the best batsmen in white-ball cricket that India has, Samson would also hope to leave a lasting impression and bag that elusive spot in the T20 World Cup.
Jurel also drew comparisons from MS Dhoni to the legendary Sunil Gavaskar during India’s Test series against England. The young fool, however, is happy to just be Dhruv.
“Thank you very much, Mr. Gavaskar, for comparing me with Mr. Dhoni. But I want to say personally that no one can replicate what Mr. Dhoni has done,” Jurel had said at the ‘India Today Conclave’.
