Travis Kelce has confirmed that he will not accompany Taylor Swift at the Grammys because he needs to focus on the Super Bowl.

In an interview, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end said he would not be at Sunday’s music awards show where Swift is nominated for six awards.

“I wish I could go support Taylor at the Grammys and see her win every award she’s nominated for,” Kelce said during an interview on The Pat McAfee Show. “But I think I have practice on Sunday.”

The Chiefs will travel to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 11, where they will face the San Francisco 49ers. Due to his practice schedule with his soccer team, he could not commit to traveling to Los Angeles, where the Grammys will be held.

“Unfortunately, I have to prepare for this big Super Bowl that we’re going to have in a week,” Kelce added.

Swift has been supporting Kelce throughout the NFL regular season and postseason by cheering on the player from the stands. The extra coverage the pair has received hasn’t been a distraction, according to Chiefs head coach Andy Reid, who praised the way the duo handled the situation.

“She’s been great,” Reid said in an interview while appearing on the Come on! podcast hosted by Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray. “Listen, she’s a good girl and I’m happy for Trav, and there hasn’t been any distractions in that regard. “Trav handled it well, he handled it well and we moved on, so it hasn’t been a problem at all.”
