Indian cricketer Mayank Agarwal escaped major tragedy after consuming a poisonous liquid, thinking it was water, on a flight from Agartala to Delhi on Tuesday. Agarwal was immediately admitted to a hospital in Agartala, where doctors treated him in the ICU. Realizing that there might be some conspiracy in the entire scenario, Agarwal even lodged an FIR with the police, though investigation into the matter is still ongoing. On Wednesday, the cricketer took to social media to share an update on his health.

“I feel better now. I am getting ready to return. Thank you all for the prayers, love and support!” Mayank’s post read.

Mayank is said to be “out of danger” and will be shifted to Bengaluru, the director of the Karnataka Ranji team said on Wednesday. Mayank was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday after vomiting and feeling uncomfortable. During a flight, he consumed liquid from a bottle he believed contained drinking water.

Ramesh, director of the Ranji team of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KCA), told ANI that the police are recording the statement of the Karnataka captain.

“Mayank Agarwal is now out of danger and the police are recording his statement… We don’t know the details about this matter, we will take him to Bengaluru today,” Ramesh said.

Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) labor secretary Basudeb Chakraborty had earlier said that during the flight Mayank drank from a bottle, which caused him discomfort.

“We sent the TCA staff to the hospital and they told us that there was a bottle, Mayank drank it assuming it was water and after drinking it he felt acidic and it gave him a burning sensation,” Basudeb told ANI.

The flight to Delhi returned to Agartala due to a medical emergency.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the Karnataka team manager, on behalf of Agarwal, also requested the Tripura police to investigate the incident.

A written complaint was given to K Kiran Kumar, Superintendent of Police (Tripura West) and a case was registered under the jurisdiction of New Capital Complex police station in Agartala.
