Many notable events take place in February, which you can find listed on the ESPN India sports calendar.

Here are the key updates for Wednesday, February 14:

ISL: Bagan hands Goa first defeat of the season

A sensational goal from Dimi Petratos gave Mohun Bagan Super Giant a 1-0 win over FC Goa at Fatorda on Wednesday night, a result that saw Manolo Marquez’s side finally lose their unbeaten record in the ISL this season.

Bagan, meanwhile, moved up to fourth thanks to that result, level on points with Mumbai City FC and just one point behind third-placed Kerala Blasters.

PKL: Puneri Paltan beat Bengal Warriors; Dabang Delhi overtakes Tamil Thalaivas

Bengal Warriors’ PKL S10 playoff hopes hang by a thread after losing 26-29 to Puneri Paltan in Kolkata tonight. The Warriors have one match left to play and are five points behind sixth-placed Haryana Steelers, who have four matches left in their home match in Panchkula, which starts on Friday. Even a point for the Steelers will confirm them as the last team to enter the playoffs.

Meanwhile, in an entertaining first match of the day, Dabang Delhi finished on the right side of a high-scoring thriller, beating Tamil Thalaivas 45-43.

Tennis: Ramkumar advances to the quarterfinals of the Bangalore Open

Shyam Vasudevan reports from the field: Ramkumar Ramanathan made a splendid comeback to advance to the quarter-finals of the Bengaluru Open Challenger. He came back from a set down to surprise top seed Luca Nardi 1-6, 6-4, 6-4 and advance to the round of 16. Backed by around 200 fans on a warm Wednesday afternoon, Ramkumar relied on his powerful serves and forehands to tire his Italian opponent.

The victory comes two days after Ramkumar dug deep to save a match point and win his first match against Maxime Janvier. Ramkumar will be back in action tonight when he teams up with Saketh Myneni in the men’s doubles.

More badminton: India beat Hong Kong

In a more predictable result than the surprise in the women’s section, the Indian men beat Hong Kong 4-1 in their group stage match.

The only Indian who failed to secure a win was HS Prannoy, who lost to Hong Kong’s world number 22 Ng Ka Long Angus (18-21, 14-21). Meanwhile, Lakshya Sen beat Yin Chak Chan 21-14, 21-9, Kidambi Srikanth beat Jason Gunawan 21-14, 21-8 in their singles heats, while Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty beat Lui Chun Wai and Yeong Shing Choi 21-16. 21-11, and MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila beat Chou Hin Long and Hung Kuei Chun 21-12, 21-7

The other team in India’s group is the team that beat them for Asian Games men’s team gold: China.

Badminton: Indian women beat China and Sindhu returns to winning ways

The Indian women’s team made a stellar start to their Badminton Asian Team Championship campaign by beating China 3-2. The match marked PV Sindhu’s victorious return to the court, but the most impressive result was debutant Anmol Kharb’s victory in the all-important fifth and final match.

With the two nations tied 2-2, it came down to the final match when Anmol, playing in his first major senior tournament, faced Wu Luo Yu. What followed was a grueling contest and the Indian teenager prevailed 22-20, 14-21, 21-18 to seal the victory.

Earlier in the day, Sindhu gave India a good start by beating Yue Han of China 21-17, 21-15. It was a close affair and Sindhu was trailing by three points in the second game, but she recovered well to seal the victory. However, China tied it in the next match when the world No. 4 doubles team of Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning beat India’s Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponappa 21-19, 21-16. In the third tie, Ashmita Chaliha lost 13-21, 15-21 to Wang Zhi Yi.

It was a tough situation as India needed an outright victory to stay in the competition and it was the duo of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand who got the job done. They lost the first game 10-21, but regrouped well to take the second game 21-18. Treesa and Gayatri rode the momentum and put up a brilliant show in the decider to pull off an excellent win and bring India back to level 2-2.
