Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal is one of the judges of Shark Tank India 3.
The third season of Shark Tank India started airing this week. Within a couple of days, fans of the show started making comparisons between a current judge, Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal, and former BharatPe CEO Ashneer Grover, who was one of the judges in the first season of the show . This came after Mr. Goyal was seen questioning the bowlers in one of the clips shared by the show’s official social media account.
In the video the entrepreneur is seen questioning the contestants about the grammar used in their presentation. He pointed out the importance of being accurate and how small mistakes can influence big decisions in a professional setting. At one point in the video, he asked the participant, “Why is the phone number you mentioned nine digits instead of ten?”

He added that the casters of Shark Tank India should have paid more attention to details, especially since they knew they would be making presentations to potential investors on national television. He even commented that job applicants are often rejected due to even the slightest grammatical error on their resume.
Meanwhile, Ashneer Grover was often seen as the show’s strict and direct investor in the first season, who never hid from giving adequate feedback and pointing out flaws in the business models.
Since it was shared, the clip has garnered a lot of reactions online with some users calling the Zomato founder “Ashneer Grover soft” and “Ashneer Grover lite”.
“Zomato’s Deepinder Goyal is a great addition to Shark Tank. He could be the next Ashneer Grover,” said one user.
Another added: “The way he pointed out the little flaws in that ‘fitness’ was amazing, he’s a smooth Ashneer Grover.”
Another person commented: “In my opinion, you are not wrong. I have been part of multiple presentations and have presented my proposal in front of influential investors. It is very important to be precise and exact with your presentation and go into the details.”
“Ahhhhhhhh. So we have a new Ashneer?” one person commented.
“The phone number thing is actually a big mistake. The rest seems like valid criticism, but maybe too nitpicky. However, if the product/business model is great, those things can be overlooked,” one person commented .
One person said: “This is a very disrespectful way of speaking to businessmen participating in Shark Tank India. This way of speaking is certainly worse than Ashneer Grover’s.”
