Shares of state-owned companies, according to the latest trends, have experienced a notable upward trend in recent days. Notably, NTPC, one of these entities, has shown impressive performance over the past year, attracting the attention of brokerage firms that forecast continued growth.

On Tuesday, NTPC stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 344.85, with a low of Rs 166.80, indicating a significant fluctuation in value. Brokerage firm Morgan Stanley remains optimistic about NTPC’s prospects and sees continued momentum and substantial profits ahead. Similarly, ICICI Direct shares a positive outlook on NTPC’s trajectory.

Recent reports highlight NTPC’s share growth of 9.39 per cent in the last month alone. Over the last six months, investors have enjoyed gains amounting to 54 per cent, while the last five years have seen a remarkable gain of 189 per cent, solidifying NTPC’s position as a lucrative investment option.

In line with its bullish outlook, Morgan Stanley has raised its target price for NTPC stock, setting it at Rs 390 per share. Furthermore, ICICI Direct advocates long-term investment in NTPC, citing the company’s steady capacity expansion and strong market position. With a target price of Rs 400 per share, ICICI Direct suggests buying NTPC shares.

NTPC, recognized as India’s largest power generator, controls approximately 16 per cent of the national capacity and contributes over 25 per cent to power generation. The company has a monthly electricity production of 25 billion units in its 55 operational power plants. Notably, the Union Government of India conferred NTPC with the prestigious Maharatna status in May 2010, demonstrating its importance in the country’s energy landscape. Additionally, its global standing was recognized when it ranked 433rd on the Forbes Global 2000 list in 2023.

As investors continue to look for promising opportunities in the stock market, NTPC emerges as a compelling option, offering steady growth potential and a solid foundation backed by its significant market presence and government recognition.
