The BCCI has officially announced that it has rescheduled two matches of the current Indian Premier League season that began last month.

According to a BCCI statement, the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals, which was originally scheduled to take place on April 17, 2024 at Eden Gardens, has been postponed by a day and will now take place on April 16, 2024.

On the other hand, the contest between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals, earlier scheduled to take place on April 16, 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, has been postponed by a day and will now be played on April 17, 2024.

While BCCI has not officially given any specific reason for the minor change, CricketNext learned that authorities in Kolkata were unsure about providing security for the KKR-RR IPL match at Eden Gardens as it clashes with the Rama Navami festivities. .

“It should not be a big challenge as there is adequate space between these teams’ matches and there is enough time to make the necessary changes/arrangements at the two venues,” a source close to the developments told this publication.

The BCCI announced the IPL 2024 schedule in two phases to ensure that it does not coincide with the election dates in the country.

The 17th season of the T20 league began on March 22 when defending champions Chennai Super Kings hosted Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The final will be played on May 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.


RR is the only unbeaten team of the season that has now won its first three matches and with six points is the current leader of the IPL 2024 points table. KKR are second while champions CSK are third with four points .
