“It was going to ruin my career”

Calista Flockhart says incessant speculation about eating disorders left her “sleep-deprived” and “depressed” during the years she filmed the legal drama “Ally McBeal.”

The slim actress, now 59, won a Golden Globe and a SAG Award for her lead role in the hit series, but was dogged by reports that she was battling anorexia.

“I loved working on ‘Ally McBeal’ and it just made it sour,” Flockhart told the New York Times in an interview on Friday.

“I was very sleep deprived and that made me depressed,” he added. “I thought it was going to ruin my career. I didn’t think anyone would hire me again because they would assume he had anorexia and that would be the end of it.”

Flockhart is 5 feet tall. 5 inches tall, and his weight is reported to be around 110 pounds.

“Ally McBeal” aired on Fox from 1997 to 2002 and also starred Greg Germann, Jane Krakowski, Gil Bellows, Lucy Liu, Peter MacNicol and Courtney Thorne-Smith.

During the five years of filming, reports of anorexia followed Flockhart.

“I had days where I felt really hurt, embarrassed and angry,” she said. “I was lucky to have to work. I just hung my head. I always felt: ‘Calista, you’re a good person, you’re not mean to anyone,’ and I’m confident in that.”

Flockhart told the Times that if “Ally McBeal” aired today, the mean reports about her weight wouldn’t fly.

“Now they call it body shaming. “I haven’t thought about it in a long time, but it’s really not right to accuse someone of having a disease that a lot of people struggle with,” the mother of one said.

She added that she has “never been in a situation where I have to control my weight.”

“I only have small bones,” he shrugged. “I’m just lucky.”

In 2006, Flockhart admitted that the stress of filming “Ally McBeal” left her with no appetite.

“At the time of all that, I was very stressed,” she told the newspaper. Mirror At the time. “I was working 15 hours a day on set and then faced with the end of the show, which was basically my life.

“I started eating too little, exercising too much, pushing myself too hard, and brutalizing my immune system. I guess I just didn’t find time to eat. “I’m much healthier these days.”
