Jack Antonoff defends Taylor Swift’s composition and criticizes Kanye West

Jack Antonoff has no time for anyone interested in slandering Taylor Swift’s abilities as a songwriter. The Grammy-winning producer and longtime Swift collaborator he recently told the Los Angeles Times that questioning Swift’s songwriting “is like challenging someone’s faith in God. “Just don’t go there.”

“Sometimes I’m a bit of a bitch,” she added. “But if you’re coming after my friend Taylor, you’re toasting me.”

Blur and Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn sparked outrage among Swift fans in 2022 after told the LA Times that Swift “doesn’t write her own songs.”

“A really interesting songwriter is Billie Eilish and her brother,” he added at the time. “I’m more attracted to that than Taylor Swift. She’s just darker, less optimistic. Much smaller and stranger. “I think she is exceptional.”

Albarn’s displeasure prompted Antonoff to take to Twitter at the time to post: “I’ve never met Damon Albarn and he’s never been in my studio, but apparently he knows more than the rest of us about all those songs Taylor writes and brings. Herb.”

In his new interview with the LA Times, Antonoff also attacked one of Swift’s longtime antagonists, Kanye West, saying he “just needs his diaper changed badly.”

“It’s been a long time since I’ve taken Kanye’s call,” Antonoff added. “I get really bored when someone no longer has the sauce and goes somewhere else to be surprised. “It’s just a noticeable waste of space.”

It has not yet been confirmed that Antonoff helped produce Swift’s next surprise album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” although it seems likely given that he has worked with the singer on every album dating back to “1989.” Swift was quick to anger her devoted fan base when she announced the new album at the Grammys earlier this month. Everyone was waiting for Swift to announce “Reputation (Taylor’s version).” Instead, she revealed that she had a completely new album ready with 16 tracks and several bonus songs.

“I’ve heard some of that. It’s amazing,” Swift’s boyfriend, Travis Kelce, said during a Super Bowl press conference shortly after she announced the album. “I can’t wait for her to revolutionize the world when she finally falls.”

“The Department of Tortured Poets” premieres on April 19.
