Jack Black in ‘School of Rock’

Jack Black is totally depressed by a School of Rock continuation.
More than two decades after the beloved musical comedy, directed by Richard Linklater, premiered in 2003, the actor and comedian recently said JOSÉ who is “ready” to reprise his role as energetic musician Dewey Finn.
“I wish there was a School of Rock 2 electric boogaloo” he said, referencing the film title of the 1984 sequel to Interrupt‘.
School of Rock follows Dewey, who became a substitute teacher at a tense private elementary school after being kicked out of his rock band. But along the way, he tries to turn his class into his own rock band. The film also starred Mike White, Joan Cusack, Adam Pascal, Lucas Papaelias, Chris Stack, Sarah Silverman and Miranda Cosgrove.
Black also admitted that he would like the original film’s writer, White, to rewrite the script for the hypothetical sequel. However, he acknowledged that White, who played Dewey’s roommate Ned Schneebly, is quite busy writing and directing his Emmy-winning HBO series. The white lotus.
“You know Mike White wrote the first one and he’s a genius,” Black said. “And we’d have to have Mike White back in charge, but he’s very busy himself now with (The) White Lotus“the best show on television.”
The white lotus, which has featured a star-studded cast in past seasons, including Jennifer Coolidge, Sydney Sweeney and Theo James, has begun filming its third season. It is planned to take place in a hotel chain in Thailand.
While it doesn’t seem like a follow-up movie to School of Rock will be in development soon, Nickelodeon created a television show based on the film, which ran for three seasons from 2016 to 2018. A stage musical adaptation also premiered on Broadway in 2015, but closed in 2019.
