Jax Taylor insists his split from Brittany Cartwright is “not a divorce.”
“We’re together. We’re living in our house right now,” Taylor tells Page Six as she leaves a gym Thursday night, just hours after Cartwright announced they were “taking some time apart.”
Cartwright previously revealed that she and Taylor have been living under separate roofs since they split, but she says things have already progressed pretty quickly.
“He was in a house for a while, but yeah, he’s back now.”
The couple was seen living separately days before the split announcement, as Taylor was photographed visiting Cartwright on Monday at what appeared to be his new residence in Sherman Oaks, California. They share a house in Valley Village.
Taylor, who is not wearing her wedding ring, adds that they are trying to “figure out” their next steps and that their split “is fresh and new.”
“It is not evil or malice,” the 44-year-old says. “They’re just two people who are now approaching the 10-year mark of marriage.”
“We just spent some time apart and tried to re-evaluate our situation,” he explains further. “We have a child involved and we just want to do what is best for our child.”
Taylor and Cartwright, 35, walked down the aisle in June 2019 after dating for four years. Their relationship was documented on “Vanderpump Rules.”
They welcomed their son, Cruz Michael Cauchi, into the world in April 2022.
The mother of one addressed her split about her and Taylor podcast, “When Reality Hits Jax and Brittany” Thursday.
“Yes, marriages in general are very difficult and last year I had a particularly difficult year,” he reflected.
“Jax and I are taking some time apart and I made the decision to move to another house to have some space for the sake of my mental health.”
“I’m taking things day by day,” Cartwright continued. “I don’t know what the future holds, but right now my focus is on being the best mother to Cruz.”
She did not reveal what led to their separation.
Taylor and Cartwright were announced as part of the “Vanderpump Rules” spinoff series, titled “The Valley,” in January.
Amid fan speculation that their split was a publicity stunt, a rep told Page Six exclusively that it was “definitely not PR related in any way.”
The estranged couple stepped away from the Bravo cameras in 2020, making “The Valley” their first reality show in several years.
They previously starred in their own spin-off, “Jax & Brittany Take Kentucky.”
