Jennifer Lopez canceled seven dates of her first North American tour in five years, in support of her new album “This Is Me… Now” and the pair of accompanying films.
Dates spanning August 20-31 in Cleveland, Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa, New Orleans and Houston were listed as canceled on Ticketmaster sometime Wednesday; The Cleveland and Houston dates had apparently been removed from the itinerary previously, as they were part of the tour itinerary originally announced on February 24, but are no longer present on the site. and youupdated itinerary can be found on their social media accounts.
While the the tour is still scheduled For a solid 30 shows, a large number of tickets on most tour dates remain unsold, judging by the seating chart on Ticketmaster.com. While these charts are not always completely accurate, the blue (available) segments of the seating charts on most dates are overwhelmingly larger than the gray (unavailable) ones.
The album, tour and two films are part of a $20 million self-financed three-part multimedia project that examines, as Variety profiled in a recent cover story, “Lopez’s Life as a Serial Romantic,” about her reunion with actor Ben Affleck, whom she married in 2022, nearly two decades after the high-profile superstar couple split originally following his failure in the 2003 romantic comedy “Gigli.”
A representative for the artist did not immediately respond. Varietythe request for comments; the cancellation notice simply states: “Unfortunately, the event organizer had to cancel their event. No action is necessary to obtain a refund.”
The cancellations come after Lopez’s new album, her first in a decade, also titled “This Is Me…Now,” debuted at a disappointing No. 38 on the Billboard 200 last month.
The project, which also includes the musical film “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story” and a documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” is apparently intended as a statement that love conquers all.
