Jimmy Kimmel returned to work on Monday to give people a fun post-mortem of the Oscars, especially the part where John Cena hid his private parts while presenting the award for Best Costume Design.

After a quick lie from Justin Timberlake, who first took the stage of ABC’s late-night show to say he was filling in for the night, Kimmel emerged and immediately began listing his favorite moments from Sunday’s Academy Awards. (Timberlake is the evening’s musical guest.)

He was tickled by the way Arnold Schwarzenegger said the word Godzilla and enjoyed Ryan Gosling’s performance of “I’m Just Ken,” but the highlight was when he paid tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Oscar streak in 1974 .

“To get this on the air… of all the times I’ve hosted the Oscars or the Emmys or something like that, no part of comedy has received more scrutiny than this,” Kimmel explained. “There were meetings and meetings on site, emails, text messages, phone calls and people sweating. Someone was crying. “Then once they realized we weren’t going to take no for an answer… there was an intense discussion about the envelope.”

Kimmel then showed the envelope that the bosses wanted Cena to use, which was basically the size of a shoe box. In the end, Kimmel and his team opted for the smaller envelope, which perfectly masked Cena’s unmentionables.

“I would say congratulations to John Cena,” Kimmel said. “The commotion you caused. Very rarely does an idea literally go further and this one did.”
