Jon Stewart scored big numbers for his return to The daily program.

Stewart’s return to the late-night show on Monday marked the Comedy Central show’s most-watched episode in five years. It attracted 930,000 viewers, making it the most-watched episode since 2018.

The episode was simulcast on CMT, Logo, MTV, MTV2, Paramount Network, Pop, and TV Land and added another 920,000 viewers to these networks, bringing the overnight total, including reruns, to 1.85 million.

It was also The daily program highest rating share since 2015 at 4.21.

Stewart outperformed Trevor Noah’s final episode, up 110% from the 443,000 who watched the South African comedian say goodbye in December 2022. That show was also up 160% in the 25-54 viewer demo.

On social media, Comedy Central said Monday’s episode had 11.1 million views on social platforms.

Stewart returned after nearly nine years to host the show Monday nights on Comedy Central until the presidential election. He had said he was “really looking forward to having a place to unload thoughts as we head into this election season,” which will likely include a rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump for the US presidency.

Jordan Klepper presents The daily show the rest of the week, starting with an episode featuring Killer Mike.
