Jonathan Majors sentencing delayed over last-ditch attempt to avoid prison – live

Elderly attorneys filed a motion to vacate the verdict, which can be entered under New York law after a conviction but before sentencing, on Monday night.

Prosecutors have until next month to respond to the motion and Judge Michael Gaffey has scheduled a new sentencing hearing for April 8, on daily beast reports.

Mayers was expected to be sentenced in New York at 11 a.m. Tuesday, but as proceedings began, prosecutors said motions by Mayers’ attorneys had delayed the sentencing.

Mayers faces up to a year in prison for his conviction on third-degree assault and harassment charges in December.
