“Queer Eye” standout Jonathan Van Ness reportedly refused to work with some of his co-stars, according to a Rolling Stone Exhibition published on Tuesday.

“I never wanted to share the spotlight with anyone,” a member of the show’s production team told the outlet. “There were times when we couldn’t even film scenes with certain members of the Fab Five together because things would get so bad.”

The source noted that there was also “absolutely tension between” stars Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Tan France and Antoni Porowski, but that Van Ness was the main contributor.

Supporting this claim was a statement made by another member of the production, who said that the 36-year-old stylist’s mood often dictated the atmosphere of the entire set.

“When he comes on set, everything changes if he’s in a bad mood,” the person said. “Working with him is very difficult in any position.”

At least three other people described Van Ness, who identifies as non-binary, as an emotionally “abusive” individual with “anger issues,” while others told Rolling Stone that he acted like a “monster,” a “nightmare.” ” and that he was “a monster.” degrading.”

Another person close to the production claimed that there was “a real emotion of fear around them when they got angry.”

“It’s almost like a caricature that comes out of them,” the individual further alleged. “It’s intense and terrifying.”

And while Netflix executives reportedly held at least one meeting with Van Ness about his troubling behavior, they reportedly carried on as usual when they returned to set.

A representative for the television personality did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on the allegations.

Despite the uncomfortable comments made about Van Ness, a source who previously worked with them told Rolling Stone that they can sometimes be a pleasure to be around.

“Jonathan is a person who contains multitudes and who has the ability to be very warm, very charismatic, and he has the ability to make you feel really special that they are paying attention to you,” they noted.

They added: “But at least once a day they would have to shout at someone. It may be something small, but there will always be someone to point the finger at, blame, and make him the villain of the day.”

The Rolling Stone exposé is not the first time cracks in the beloved Netflix series have been highlighted.

In January, Berk, 42, revealed that he had been feuding with France, 40, behind the scenes.

“Tan and I had a moment,” she told Vanity Fair. “There was a situation, and that’s between me and Tan, and it has nothing to do with the show.”

“It was something personal that had been brewing, and nothing romantic, just to clear that up,” he added.

However, they have apparently put their drama behind them, as Berk said he and Francia “hugged” at the 2024 Creative Arts Emmy Awards on January 7.

By then, Berk had already announced his departure from “Queer Eye” after eight seasons to dedicate himself to other projects.

Raising more questions about the group’s dynamic, Brown, 43, revealed in November 2023 that he, Berk and Van Ness were not invited to Porowski’s bachelor party.

Although the Fab Five seemed to be best friends during the show’s early seasons, an insider on the production told Rolling Stone that they live “very different lives.”

“Their relationships have definitely changed since the first season,” another member of the production explained.

“As in all workplaces, as time goes by, people grow closer to some people and further away from others.”

Another production source said fans shouldn’t be surprised at all by their fractured bond.

“Basically, they were a group of people gathered together in their thirties and told to be best friends. But people don’t expect ‘Queer Eye’ to be that,” the source revealed.

“That’s really what it was: a manufactured boy band with big personalities, some were favored and some weren’t, and then eventually (things) got really toxic.”
