PONTIAC, Mich. (WILX) – Jury deliberations will continue through Tuesday in the trial of Jennifer Crumbley, the mother of Oxford High School shooter Ethan Crumbley.
Judge Cheryl Matthews held a blind drawing to choose three alternates who would be confined at home during Tuesday’s proceedings.
Oakland County jurors sent the defense and prosecution back to the courtroom twice for clarification as they continue to deliberate on a verdict in Jennifer’s trial.
Crumbley faces four counts of manslaughter related to the November 2021 shooting at Oxford High School, a shooting to which his son Ethan pleaded guilty.
Jennifer and her husband James Crumbley have pleaded not guilty to the four charges they each face. James Crumbley’s trial is scheduled to begin March 5.
The two are the first parents in the United States charged with being responsible for deaths related to a shooting committed by their son.
Four students, Madisyn Baldwin, 17; Hana Santa Juliana, 14; Tate Myre, 16 years old; and Justin Shilling, 17, were killed when Ethan Crumbley, then 15, opened fire at the high school in northern Oakland County on Nov. 30, 2021. Six students and one teacher were wounded in the shooting.
Ethan Crumbley was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in December 2023.
