“We were talking about the song itself and just breaking down the idea that you don’t hear that often from men, that they would express an emotion that makes them vulnerable,” Timberlake said of the stunt in an interview with Apple Music. “And then growing up the way I grew up, they teach you not to do that. But I don’t know, it seemed like a really honest song to me.”
He continued: “The lyrics started coming out honestly. And when I listened to the whole album, I felt like probably, of all the songs on the album, production-wise, it’s probably the simplest, and I don’t want to say simple because to me it’s complex within its simplicity. “
