Kaia Gerber was “dazzled” by her mother Cindy Crawford

Kaia Gerber always knew she had a famous mom, but it wasn’t until last year’s AppleTV docuseries, The supermodels, who realized how famous Cindy Crawford really is. In a new interview with WSJ. Magazine, the model, actress and book club president explained that after watching the show she was “dazzled” by her own mother and, well, the same thing. Of course, Gerber has followed in her mother’s famous footsteps, but she’s also forging her own career that has gone beyond modeling to become a Generation Z icon.

“I was starstruck in front of her afterwards,” Gerber said of seeing his mother in action during the docu-series. “I thought, ‘I didn’t realize it. I knew you were an icon, but…’ I didn’t understand it when I was younger. What she did with her career, there was really no one to follow. And I thought it was cool. “That she always had that ambition and did things where people told her, ‘This will ruin your career. Don’t do this.’ And she trusted her instincts.”

Gerber also addressed the conversation about the nepo baby that has been in the ether. It’s easy to make her a famous face with very famous parents, but she insists that her parents never forced her to do anything she didn’t want to do. She even explained that Crawford and Rande Gerber made her children’s life as normal as possible, paparazzi and all.

“They never, ever let that dictate what they did or didn’t do. He never controlled our life,” she added. “When I was a kid, if I wanted to go pick out a Christmas tree, we would pick out a Christmas tree. And maybe there would be paparazzi photographs. But my parents would never say, ‘Oh no, I don’t want to do that.'”

Gerber says she’s glad she has parents who can offer her some career advice, from modeling tips from Cindy to business direction from her father, Randy Gerber.

“I can actually ask my parents for advice on career and business issues,” Gerber said. “It’s very rare to have parents who are in the same industry or career as you, whose advice you can really trust.”

But Gerber also admitted that the idea of ​​nepo babies won’t disappear from the public consciousness anytime soon. So, she accepted that she will always be associated with her mom and her dad and grouped into a group of nepo babies like Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber.

“I don’t think it’s an issue that’s going to go away, so clearly I’ve reached a point of acceptance,” he added. “Personally, I am very aware of all the wonderful things it has done for me and I would never say anything negative about it because that is my truth about it.”
