Kate Middleton’s parents ‘desperately upset’ by cancer diagnosis as they step in to help grandchildren

Kate Middleton’s parents have thrown a “security blanket” around her and Prince William’s three children following her cancer announcement, a royal expert has shared.

The Princess of Wales, 42, revealed on Friday that she has been receiving chemotherapy treatment after doctors discovered the cancer during her planned abdominal surgery.

As he privately navigates his health issues, his parents Michael, 74, and Carole Middleton, 69, provide him with a sense of comfort and stability when it comes to their children: Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and the Prince. Luis, 5.

They are also grandparents to Pippa’s children: Arthur, 5, Grace, 3, and Rose, 1.

“They will have bonded with her, especially her young family,” commented commentator and royal biographer Duncan Larcombe. he said to the Mirror. “Carole and Michael will have essentially thrown a security blanket around the young children to help protect them.”

“At times like this, for Kate, this is hugely important. It is essential that children are carefully cared for,” she added.

Larcombe added that both Michael and Carole also support William, whom they consider their “adopted son.”

Larcombe said both Michael and Carole are “desperately upset” by their eldest daughter’s diagnosis.

While Middleton’s parents aren’t ones to reveal details about their private lives, the princess’s mother previously gushed about being a grandmother and said she will always take an active role when it comes to her grandchildren.

Since the Prince and Princess of Wales made Windsor their permanent base last year, Carole and Michael have been able to spend more time with their grandchildren.

The couple now has more time to see their grandchildren after selling their nearly 40-year-old party supplies company, Party Pieces, which Middleton’s mother founded in 1987.

Middleton and William, meanwhile, left Adelaide Cottage in Windsor by helicopter over the weekend to head to Anmer Hall, located on the Sandringham estate, with their children for the Easter holidays.

It’s unclear if Michael and Carole will join them.
