Kate Middleton’s photo editing fiasco has accidentally done more harm than good by silencing mass speculation about his well-being, according to a former royal butler.

The Princess of Wales, 42, who has been recovering from abdominal surgery behind closed doors, was forced to apologize after posting a doctored family photo for Mother’s Day in the UK on Sunday.

But with rumors growing about the royal’s post-operative recovery, the release of the image ended up causing concern, says King Charles’ former butler Grant Harrold.

“Of course, it causes concern because everyone is overanalyzing it right now, and everyone is worried about her and watching for any kind of signs,” said Harrold, who worked as the monarch’s butler for seven years when he was the Prince of Wales exclusively told The Post.

“If it hadn’t been for his free time, photo editing really wouldn’t have been much of a story,” Harrold said.

“It would have just been an admission that they had edited the photo a little and then it would have been over,” the royal expert added.

Just seconds after the image was posted to social media, eagle-eyed followers noticed a slew of editing errors in the photo of Middleton with her three children.

Widespread speculation led conspiracy theorists to come out of the woodwork, with claims not only about Middleton’s health, but also about her whereabouts.

“I think because some people are convinced that something is going on behind the scenes, something as small as editing a photo has become a big deal,” Harrold said of the rumors surrounding the mother of three.

“I hope that when she returns to her duties and things calm down, if there is any future issue, people won’t analyze it to the extent that they have now.”

“He’s recovering, he’s taking some time and he’s taken this family photo, and for some reason he obviously wanted to edit some of it out, and I guess it’s a personal choice,” Harrold added.

After photo retouching apparently exacerbated rumors about her health, the royal returned to social media to set the record straight about what had happened.

“Like many amateur photographers, I experiment with editing from time to time,” he wrote on X in the wake of the controversy. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion caused by the family photo we shared yesterday.”

The royal tweeted her apologies after major photo agencies including Reuters, Associated Press, Getty and Agence France-Presse removed the image due to numerous signs it had been altered.

On Monday, the princess was seen leaving Windsor Castle with her husband, Prince William, just hours after her clarification regarding the photograph.

It was his first public appearance since his surgery in January. Middleton was last seen in an official capacity on Christmas Day while attending church in Sandringham, England.

The princess is not expected to return to public duties until after Easter, which falls on March 31, 2024.
