LONDON – Kate, Princess of Wales, and King Charles III were discharged from a private London clinic on Monday after procedures.

The princess was discharged from hospital almost two weeks after undergoing planned abdominal surgery. The king underwent a “corrective procedure” for an enlarged prostate and was hospitalized over the weekend.

“The king was discharged from hospital this afternoon following planned medical treatment and has rescheduled his upcoming public engagements to allow for a period of private recovery,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Monday.

“Her Majesty would like to thank the medical team and everyone who supported her visit to the hospital, and appreciates all the kind messages she has received in recent days,” he added.

The monarch’s daughter-in-law, 75, was discharged early Monday from the same private hospital, The London Clinic.

The 42-year-old wife of Prince William, Britain’s future king, will now take an extended period of rest, putting her normally busy schedule of public and private engagements on hold.

“The Princess of Wales has returned to her home in Windsor to continue recovering from surgery. “She is making good progress,” Kensington Palace said in a statement.

“The Prince and Princess would like to say a huge thank you to all the team at The London Clinic, especially the dedicated nursing staff, for the care provided.

The statement added: “The Welsh family remains grateful for the good wishes they have received from around the world.”

Kate was admitted to the hospital on January 17 for an unspecified surgery. The palace said at the time that she may not recover until after Easter, which this year falls on March 31.

When she was admitted, the palace said William would also refrain from some engagements and cancel upcoming overseas trips to focus on the couple’s three young children.

The palace did not give further details about the reasons for the procedure, only confirming that the condition is not cancerous.
