Katie Couric is officially a grandmother!
The former “Today” show co-host took to Instagram on Sunday to reveal that her daughter, Ellie Dobrosky, had given birth.
“John Albert Dobrosky was born on schedule, Saturday, March 23 at 8:23 a.m., weighing just under seven pounds.” she wrote in a caption along with photos of her, Ellie, Ellie’s husband Mark, Couric’s youngest daughter Caroline Monahan, and her own husband John Molner spending time with the newborn.
“He will be named Jay after his maternal grandfather,” the 67-year-old further revealed, referencing her late husband, John “Jay” Monahan, who died of colorectal cancer in 1998 at the age of 42.
“Mom and Dad are thrilled, I’m thrilled to have my first grandchild, Carrie can’t wait to be a great aunt, and Molner enjoys handing out cigarettes. We feel very blessed. 💙🥰🍼👶🏻💙 We’ll have more tomorrow on Wake-Up Call ⏰❤️,” she added.

“Witnessing your baby having a baby is crazy. Ellie had an easy pregnancy and took good care of herself. I know she will be a wonderful mother and I know Mark will be an equal father. Jay was like that. He makes all the difference in the world,” he explained.
Couric first announced her daughter’s pregnancy in December 2023 by sharing an Instagram video that showed Caroline giving her a beaded friendship bracelet to wear at a Taylor Swift concert.
When Couric initially looked at the “Future Grandma” message on the bracelet, she was confused, but when she finally processed what the words meant, her jaw hit the floor.
Ellie said: “I’m pregnant,” to which the former news anchor responded: “Are you? Wow!”
Couric welcomed Ellie and Caroline in 1991 and 1996, respectively, with her first husband. Following Jay’s death, she married Molner, 60, in 2014.
As for Ellie’s love life, the new mom and Dobrosky got engaged in February 2019. The couple tied the knot two years later.
