Kerala will launch India’s first government-backed OTT platform tomorrow; This is everything you need to know about CSpace

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will launch the Kerala OTT platform at Kairali Theater on Thursday, March 7 at 9:30 am. The state is set to make a splash in the digital entertainment space with the launch of CSpace.

The CSpace OTT platform is all set to debut tomorrow and aims to offer a unique blend of informative and entertaining content specially designed for the masses. Meanwhile, Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian will preside. This is India’s first government-backed OTT platform.

Noted film director and Chairman of Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) Shaji N Karun said in a press conference that the OTT platform is being launched to address the growing imbalances and multiple challenges in the OTT sector. He said that “CSpace is essentially a response to the growing imbalances and multiple challenges in the OTT sector in terms of content selection and propagation,” he informed. H.T..

An official statement noted: “The platform, which will debut this Thursday, aims to offer a unique blend of informative and entertaining content designed for the masses.”

What is CSpace?

CSpace is managed by the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC), which is a state-owned company entrusted with the promotion of Malayalam cinema and industry.

This OTT platform will be launched on behalf of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala. KSFDC has constituted a 60-member curatorial panel, including eminent cultural personalities of the state, to select and approve the content.

Eminent cultural personalities include Benyamin, OV Usha, Santhosh Sivan, Shyamaprasad, Sunny Joseph and Jeo Baby. Each content submitted to the platform will be evaluated by three panel curators for its artistic, cultural and infotainment merit.
