After taking over for King Charles III amid his cancer diagnosis, the queen has no scheduled royal duties for more than a week, according to her schedule seen by The times.

The 76-year-old will resume public appearances at Westminster Abbey on March 11 to mark Commonwealth Day, which celebrates 56 member states from Africa, Asia, the Americas and Europe on the second Monday of March each year. Camilla is expected to represent the crown at the annual celebration, according to the outlet.

Meanwhile, online royal diary points out that Charles’ brothers princess anne and Prince Edward will represent the British family at most of the upcoming events next week, including visits to Right Stuff Amateur Boxing Club, Freewheelers Theatre, Rising Brook Community Church, Savoy Chapel, National Equine Forum and more outings.

The king has been taking some time out of the public eye since sharing his cancer diagnosis on February 5.

King Charles III’s path to the throne

“During the King’s recent hospital procedure for a benign enlarged prostate, another issue of concern was noted,” read a statement from Buckingham Palace at the time. “Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer. Her Majesty has today begun a program of regular treatments, during which doctors have advised her to postpone her public duties.”

As Charles continues to focus on his health, the 75-year-old has offered the occasional update, including a public message on February 10 to show his gratitude.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received,” he wrote in a letter posted on Instagram. “As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, those kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement.”

Princess Catherine has not been seen in public since December 25 as she recovers from her abdominal surgery in January. Her absence from her public life causes many people to speculate about her well-being.

In his absence, Camilla has maintained a busy schedule: she met Ukraine’s first lady Olena Zelenska at Clarence House on February 29, attended a reception for BBC 500 Word finalists at Buckingham Palace on February 28 and left for a Memorial service for Greek King Constantine II February 27.

However, the next in line to the throne, Prince William, has been noticeably absent of some events in recent weeks like his wife Kate Middleton recovering from scheduled abdominal surgery.

Kensington Palace shared in January that Middleton, who was last seen publicly at Christmas 2023-is unlikely to return to role until after Easter.

While her team has said the Princess of Wales is “doing well,” no further details have been revealed about her surgery or her recovery process.

“Kensington Palace made clear in January the timeline for the princess’s recovery and we would only provide meaningful updates,” her spokesperson told E! News of February 29. “That orientation remains.”
