While “Stranger Things” season five star Linda Hamilton may be getting ready to venture to Hawkins, Indiana, hopefully listening to some Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” on her Walkman, she won’t be watching the final season despite being a fan. from the Netflix drama show inspired by 1980s “Dungeons and Dragons.”
In an interview with Us Weekly!, The actress shared that although she “enjoys” each season of the programhaving been chosen for its final season has “ruined” the experience of watching it.
“When you buy something, you don’t see yourself in it. So, I think it ruined the show for me. I never look at (a project) once I’m on something,” Hamilton explained. “It would take me completely out of reality if I saw myself there. So, I won’t be watching (season 5).”
The actor is among the few new cast members joining the hit sci-fi series for its latest iteration. His role, however, is being kept secret from the public, and even showrunners Ross and Matt Duffer only give Hamilton the “shape of the character but not the story.”
“They have to be very careful with their history,” Hamilton added. “So I still don’t know how this ends. “It takes a lot of discipline to not know where it’s going to go, but that’s to protect it from all the people who want to know.”
Hamilton noted that he has had a great time on the show, which began production on January 8. The official “Stranger Things” Instagram kicked off the session by posting a photo of the entire cast on their first day of production. Since then, they have continued to release a variety of images to tease and build excitement for the long-awaited finale.
Hamilton jokingly referenced that his friends are constantly texting him to see where he is on set so they can then try to piece together and decipher parts of the coveted show’s history and lore.
Recently, cast member Gaten Matarazzo, who plays fan favorite Dustin Henderson, appeared at MegaCon Orlando (via CBR) and was asked if there were any changes he would make in the first four seasons of the show, to which the actor did not hesitate to say that more characters should have been eliminated.
“It may seem like a disaster, but we should kill more people,” Matarazzo said. “This program would be so much better if the stakes were higher, like, at any moment, any of these kids could kick it. I feel like we are all too safe.”
While production on the season is already in full swing, there is no word on when the finale will air on Netflix. Since the Hollywood strikes halted many film and television productions, there is little chance that season 5 will premiere before 2025.
