List of ACE Eddie Awards winners

Those competing for the top prize for Best Edited Film for theatrical dramas are Anatomy of a Fall, The Moonflower Killers, Maestro, Oppenheimer and Past Lives. Comedy fighters are Air, American Fiction, Barbie, The Holdovers and Poor things.

Since the beginning of the 21st century, Eddie’s winner for theatrical drama has won the Academy Award for Best Editing 13 out of 23 times, but none in the last four years. In a twist, it was the Eddies comedy of 2023. winner, Everything everywhere and at the same timewhich ended up winning the Oscar. Top Gun: Maverick took home ACE’s top drama award last year.

The nominees for the Oscar for Best Editing 2024 are Anatomy of a Fall, The Remains, The Flower Moon Killers, Oppenheimer and Poor things.

A quartet of honorees will receive lifetime achievement awards from American Cinema Editors. The ever-quirky writer-director John Waters is set to receive the ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker of the Year Award, which recognizes a filmmaker who exemplifies distinguished achievement in the art and business of film. Three-time Oscar winner Walter Murch and Emmy nominee Kate Amend are the 2024 Career Achievement Award winners, and the society’s Heritage Award will be presented to veteran television editor Stephen Lovejoy.

ACE has presented its Eddie Awards annually since 1951, celebrating the art and science of the editing profession. Here are the winners revealed so far, followed by the remaining nominees:
