Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood could still return to England for personal reasons, while Dan Ashworth has started meeting potential managers.
Manchester United will look to avoid a draw in the derby when they head to the Etihad on Sunday.
Manchester City claimed a 3-0 win at Old Trafford earlier this season and need the points to help them clinch the title. However, United need a win to remain in the battle for the top four, with Aston Villa and Tottenham also in contention, as Erik ten Hag looks to prove that he is still the man who can take the club forward.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has joined in and has already started laying down blocks as he looks to improve United’s fortunes. The Red Devils were defeated in their last league match against Fulham, but responded in midweek by beating Nottingham Forest.

Greenwood considers Prem’s return
Mason Greenwood will consider returning to Manchester to alleviate his parents’ alleged marital problems.
The striker joined Getafe on loan in September after it was determined he had no future at Old Trafford. It was reported earlier this week that Greenwood would be “reluctant” to return to United as he has little desire to represent the club again. However Sun has claimed that Greenwood might change his mind because of his parents.
He reports that the relationship between Greenwood’s parents has been “strained” following his move to Spain, and his father and agent, Andrew, joined him abroad. His mother, Melanie, remained in England. Although Greenwood is happy in Spain, he is said to recognize that he may have to return to the Premier League following the impact the forced separation has had on his parents.

Ashworth reunites with Potter
Dan Ashworth met former Chelsea boss Graham Potter last weekend as questions continue to be asked of Ten Hag. Newcastle sporting director Ashworth is expected to join United once he agrees a compensation package after the Toon released him for gardening.
Ratcliffe has already begun planning changes at Old Trafford and it is understood that not even Ten Hag himself is safe after overseeing a disappointing campaign. The Sun has now reported that Ashworth recently met up with Potter, who has been single since he left Chelsea last April.
Potter’s stock was high at Brighton before his poor run of form with the Blues. While in charge of the Seagulls he oversaw victories against United, both home and away, and a move to Manchester could still be on the cards.
Ten Hag supports the dismissal
Dutch legend Wim Kieft believes Erik ten Hag is finished at Manchester United.
Kieft, the former Ajax and PSV Eindhoven striker who helped the Netherlands win the European Championship in 1988, believes that a decision has already been made on Ten Hag’s future and believes that Ratcliffe is within his rights to dismiss the Dutchman from his position.
He said: “At Manchester United, football is not yet seen and that is why I hope Ten Hag is in his last year. The climate in which Ten Hag has to work at United is completely different to that at City. “You see a certain atmosphere among the neighbors, there is a real football culture and everything seems like a team, even at the highest levels of their organization.”
