Margot Robbie has finally responded to BarbieThe recent Oscar snubs, which sparked widespread backlash among her co-stars, fans, and other high-profile figures.
The summer blockbuster was nominated for a total of eight Academy Awards, but failed to secure Best Director for Greta Gerwig and Best Leading Actress for Robbie.
This sparked an outcry in the industry and beyond, with Barbie starring Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera, who respectively earned nominations for Best Leading Actor and Best Supporting Actress, expressing their disappointment.
Former US First Lady and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton intervened, as did a local Australian police force who said they were “investigating” the “theft.”
Now that the dust has settled, Robbie is breaking his silence on Barbie being excluded from two main Oscar categories.
“There’s no way to feel sad when you know you’re so blessed,” he said. Deadlineadding that she is “beyond elated that we have eight Academy Award nominations; it’s so wild.”
“Everyone who’s received the nominations they’ve had is just incredible, and Best Picture,” Robbie continued.

“Obviously I think Greta should be nominated as a director because what she did is something unique in her career, something unique in her life, what she achieved, it really is. But it’s been an incredible year for all movies.
“We set out to do something that would change the culture, affect the culture, just make some kind of impact,” he said. “And he has already done it, and something, much more than we ever dreamed. And that is truly the greatest reward that could come from all of this.”

In addition to the performance approvals, Barbie It will compete for Best Picture, Costume Design, Production Design, Adapted Screenplay and Original Song at the 2024 Oscars. It earned two nominations in the latter category for its two songs, “I’m Just Ken” and “What Was I Made For?” ”.
