Margot Robbie finally spoke out about her best actress Oscar snub for “Barbie.”

Fans were furious after last week’s 2024 Oscar nominations when Greta Gerwig was left out of the best director category and Robbie was nowhere to be found in the best actress race.

However, she made sure to celebrate all of the Academy Award nominations the film received, saying she was “beyond ecstatic” about the film’s collective eight nominations.

In addition to best picture, a nomination that includes Robbie for being a producer, “Barbie” received nominations for best adapted screenplay, best original song (for “I’m Just Ken” and “What Was I Made For?”), best design of costumes and best production design.
Ryan Gosling was nominated in the best supporting actor category, while America Ferrera won the award for best supporting actress.
Explaining how proud she is of the film, Robbie added: “We set out to do something that would change the culture, affect the culture, just have some kind of impact.”
“And he has already done it… much more than we ever dreamed. And that is truly the greatest reward that could come from all of this.”

“Barbie” is currently the the highest grossing movie will be directed by a woman and grossed $1.4 billion at the global box office last year.

“People’s reactions to the film have been the greatest reward of this entire experience. I’ve never been a part of anything like this. Not that way. … It still feels very different,” Robbie continued.
“And I can’t think of a time when a movie has had this effect on culture. And it’s amazing to be in the eye of the storm.”
Meanwhile, her castmates had previously shared their disappointment that she and Gerwig had not been nominated.
“Greta has done almost everything a director could do to deserve it,” Ferrera told Variety.
“Creating this world and taking something that had no inherent value to most people and turning it into a global phenomenon. “It’s disappointing not to see it on that list.”
Speaking about Robbie’s snub, the “Brotherhood of the Traveling Pants” actress added: “One of the things about Margot as an actress is how easy she makes everything look. And maybe people were fooled into thinking the job looked easy.”
Gosling also reacted to the exclusion of his colleagues in a statement obtained by The Post.
“I am extremely honored to be nominated by my peers alongside such notable artists in a year of so many wonderful films,” he began.
“And I never thought I’d say this, but I’m also incredibly honored and proud that it’s for playing a plastic doll named Ken.”
The “La La Land” star continued: “But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no ‘Barbie’ movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this historic and globally celebrated film.
“No recognition would be possible for anyone in the film without their talent, courage and genius,” he continued.
“To say I’m disappointed they weren’t nominated in their respective categories would be an understatement.”
