Darshan Mehta is the Chairman and CEO of Reliance Brands Limited (RBL), which is a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited. In fact, Mehta founded RBL and was the first employee hired in 2007, according to reports. Over the years and under his leadership, RBL has become one of the leading players in India’s premium luxury fashion and lifestyle segment. He has played a crucial role in bringing over 50 high-end international brands to the Indian markets, including Giorgio Armani, Bottega Veneta, Jimmy Choo and Burberry, among others.
Darshan Mehta is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) and started his career at Price Waterhouse in Mumbai. He then moved on to Trikaya Gray Advertising (now owned by WPP), followed by RBL, where he has worked for over 15 years. His salary for the fiscal year 2020-2021 was Rs 4.89 crore, according to Reliance Retail filings and a DNA India report.
Reliance Retail has grown remarkably in the last few years and the company reported a turnover of INR 2.6 lakh crore for the financial year 2022-2023, according to reports. It’s no surprise, then, that Darshan Mehta plays an important role in one of India’s largest conglomerates and its future.
