Men’s Basketball Loses to Maryland 65-51 at Big Ten Tournament

Scorecard MINNEAPOLIS, MN. – The Scarlet Knights’ 2023-24 season ended Wednesday in Minneapolis.

No. 13 seed Rutgers was defeated 65-45 by No. 12 seed Maryland in the first round of the 2024 Big Ten Tournament at Target Center.

Rutgers began the game on a slump in shooting, making just six of its first 24 field goals in the first half. Maryland started the game with fire from the field and took an 11-0 lead and continued on a 17-3 run to start the game.

After taking a 36-22 halftime lead, the Terrapins outscored the Scarlet Knights and led Maryland 29-29 in the second half.

Maryland dominated on the fast break 19 to 6.

Junior center Julian Reese had 12 points, six rebounds and three assists. Fifth-year guard Jahmir Young had 11 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Fifth-year forward Donta Scott led the way with 16 points and three rebounds.

freshman guard Gavin Griffiths He scored 16 points and added three rebounds. Graduate forward Aundre Hyatt scored 12 points and added four rebounds. Junior guard red shirt Jeremiah Williams scored seven points.

Rutgers finished the 2023-24 season (15-17) overall.
