Michael Strahan gives update on daughter Isabella’s battle with brain tumor

Michael Strahan gave an update on his daughter Isabella’s brain tumor battle following a recent hospitalization after starting chemotherapy.

“The last three days have been a little difficult because I had a fever that came and went,” he told his co-hosts, Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos, on “Good morning america” Wednesday morning.

“I had to take her to the hospital and I thought she would come home a few hours later. … It’s been three days, but I hope she’s home today.”

Strahan, 52, shared that it’s been “tough” watching the 20-year-old go through it all, but said she’s a “tough young lady.”

In a new episode of his YouTube vlog On Wednesday, Isabella also shared information about how her first round of chemotherapy has gone. (The YouTube episode was apparently filmed before her most recent hospitalization.)

“My first round of chemotherapy was one of the worst things I have ever done in my entire life. “Oh my God,” she said as she opened Valentine’s Day gifts and letters from patients at MSK Cancer Center. “I feel like people made it look a lot easier.”

“The first week in the hospital was horrible. Actually, it wasn’t horrible until it became horrible. I felt weird having chemotherapy. “I don’t know, you really don’t think they’re going to put poison in your body.”

Isabella said she could feel the chemotherapy coursing through her body and has since had excruciating pain, including headaches and jaw discomfort.

“One was about two days before I went to the emergency room when I had a bad headache. The second was after my surgery when I had a bad headache. The third is this jaw pain,” she said.

“I never had a root canal, but it felt like someone had pulled out each of my teeth and put them back in my mouth without any medication. My gums, my teeth, my jaw, my tongue. There were tears from this pain in the jaw. “That was for three days.”

Isabella and her father announced her cancer diagnosis to the world during an emotional interview on “Good Morning America” in January.

In October, doctors told the University of Southern California student she had a malignant brain tumor known as medulloblastoma.

Isabella later revealed that she froze her eggs following her cancer diagnosis and finished her latest round of radiation in January.
