Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has been released from the Indian cricket team for the second Test match against England starting Friday. A BCCI press release said the decision was taken “taking into account the duration of the series and the amount of cricket he has played in recent times.” Avesh Khan replaced Siraj in the Indian team for the match. “Mr. Mohd. Siraj has been released from the Indian squad for the second Test against England in Vizag. The decision was taken keeping in mind the length of the series and the amount of cricket he has played in recent times. He will be available for selection for the third Test in Rajkot. Avesh Khan has rejoined the team for the second Test,” the BCCI statement said.
India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first against England on Friday as they look to level the series in the second Test.
The hosts, trailing 1-0 in the five-match series, made three changes, including two injury-forced ones in KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja, in Visakhapatnam after their opening defeat.
Batsman Rajat Patidar received his first Test cap from analyst-turned-cricketer Zaheer Khan.
Patidar, who was part of the team in Virat Kohli’s absence for the first two Tests, left-arm wrist bowler Kuldeep Yadav and fast bowler Mukesh Kumar replace Rahul, Jadeja and Mohammed. siraj.
England, led by Ben Stokes, named their team on the eve of the match and presented player Shoaib Bashir with his first Test cap after Jack Leach went off injured following an impressive opening victory.
Senior bowler James Anderson remains the team’s only quick after replacing Mark Wood.
England claimed victory in Hyderabad by 28 runs to hand India only its fourth defeat in 47 Tests at home since 2013.
