As anticipation builds for the upcoming total solar eclipse on April 8, NASA presents this interactive computer game designed to engage children ages seven and older in an educational journey through the cosmos.
Against the backdrop of the impending celestial spectacle where the moon’s shadow will cross North America, “fit it!” invites players to accompany an extraterrestrial traveler who captures snapshots of the sun on his expedition to Earth. The game intricately weaves lessons about the phenomenon of solar eclipses, illuminating how the moon intercepts the sun’s radiance during these captivating events cosmic.

Scheduled to cross Mexico, the United States and Canada, the total solar eclipse promises an impressive spectacle. Originating over the South Pacific Ocean, the eclipse will begin its visual odyssey along the Pacific coast of Mexico at around 11:07 a.m. PDT, before traveling through 15 U.S. states and concluding its continental escapade. in North America on the Atlantic coast of Newfoundland, Canada, at 5:00 am. 16 pm NDT, as reported by NASA.

At the heart of Snap It! In the game is an endearing alien protagonist, a visitor from a world untouched by the splendor of solar eclipses. Players are tasked with capturing 20 fascinating photographs of eclipses and other celestial objects as they transit the sun’s radiant sphere. Accessible from any Internet-connected computer, the game channels players’ keyboard and mouse dexterity to help the alien traveler take photos. Each captured image finds a home in a meticulously curated album, accompanied by rich information about entities in transit, including the famous Parker Solar Probe. Players can then create and download virtual postcards to share their cosmic adventures with friends and family.

During the impending total solar eclipse on April 8, viewers within the path of totality, which spans 100 to 123 miles (162 to 200 kilometers) wide, will be treated to a fascinating sight.
