Netflix is expanding its relationship with comedian Shane Gillis. The streamer has acquired his six-episode scripted comedy series. Tires, which will premiere on May 23.
Gillis stars in the series and serves as writer, co-creator and executive producer.
Tires revolves around Will (Steven Gerben), the nervous and hardcore heir to an auto repair chain, attempts to turn around his father’s business despite constant torture from his cousin and now employee, Shane (Gillis).
Tires It also stars Chris O’Connor, Kilah Fox and Stavros Halkias, with guest appearances by Andrew Schulz.
The series is directed by John McKeever. Gillis, Gerben and McKeever are the creators, writers and executive producers. Brandon James is executive producer of Rough House; Brian Stern and Kenneth Slotnick are executive producers for AGI Entertainment Media & Management. Becky Astphan is executive producer.
Tires is the second production from Gillis and McKeever’s production company, Dad Sick Productions, following Gillis’ stand-up special. beautiful dogs.
Netflix also commissioned a new stand-up special from Gillis. Your 2023 special, beautiful dogsreached the Netflix Top 10 in five countries and spent two weeks in the US Top 10 chart.
Additionally, Gillis will perform two live shows at Netflix is a Joke Fest 2024 in Los Angeles: May 4 at the Greek Theater and May 8 at the Kia Forum.
Gillis has just hosted the February 24 episode of Saturday night livehis first return to SNL following his hiring and subsequent firing from the late-night sketch show in 2019 for his past use of racial slurs. Gillis briefly mentioned her firing in his opening monologue Saturday.
“I’m here,” he said in his monologue. “Most of you probably have no idea who I am. I was actually fired from this show a while ago. But you know, don’t look for that, please. If you don’t know who I am, don’t Google that. Alright. Don’t even worry about it.”
