Aaron Taylor-Johnson encounters public criticism at age 24 age difference between him and his wife, Sam Taylor-Johnson, “strange.”
The 33-year-old actor, who is rumored to be the new James Bond, made a rare comment about his marriage to Sam, 57, in a Rolling Stone UK interview, reminding readers that he is an older soul thanks to his days of child acting.
“What you have to realize is that what most people were doing when they were 20, I was doing when I was 13,” Aaron told Rock Bible about how he began his professional career at age 6.
“Are you doing something too quickly for someone else? I do not understand that. At what speed are you supposed to enjoy life? It’s strange to me,” she added.
The couple met on the set of “Nowhere Boy” in 2009, when he was 18 and Sam was 42. She directed the John Lennon biopic, starring Aaron.
Aaron and Sam married in 2012 and are now parents to daughters Wylda, 13, and Romy Hero, 11, as well as Angelica, 25, and Jessie, 15, from Sam’s first marriage.
While Aaron gushed to Rolling Stone UK that his wife and frequent collaborator is “a great filmmaker and a wonderful storyteller,” the Marvel star admitted that the criticism surrounding their relationship isn’t always “unbelievable.”
“I feel a sense of protection,” he explained. “I think it’s really difficult. There’s also a part of me that feels like if something doesn’t work, I’m responsible.”
He concluded about the interest surrounding his private life: “People see and perceive this around my career, and that’s okay. But I’m just trying to juggle my family and my job. I’m leading a normal life; dentist appointments. Career doesn’t necessarily take a backseat, but it requires different thinking behind the decisions you make.”
Aaron’s comments come shortly after sources said Sun that he has been “formally offered” the opportunity to play James Bond in a new film from EON Productions, which produces 007 films, which is said to be preparing to film later this year.
“Bond is Aaron’s job, in case he wants to take it,” a source told the outlet. “The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to receive a response.”
Aaron’s acceptance would succeed Daniel Craig, who played Bond in a total of five films over 15 years.
