Actress Kristen Stewart appears ‘uncensored’ on the cover of the latest edition of Rolling Stone. However, the lack of censorship is not limited to her words, but also to her images. On the cover of its latest issue unveiled on its official Instagram account, Rolling Stone has captured Kristen in a never-before-seen avatar. The caption along with the cover read: “After more than two decades in the spotlight, Kristen Stewart knows who she is and what she wants. Our March cover star delves deeper into identity, being a queer woman in the public eye , writing his own movie and doing ‘the gayest thing you’ve ever seen in your life.’”
Not only this, in another post shared by the magazine, Kristen can be seen posing in what looks like a locker room. She is wearing a baggy rust-colored Nike t-shirt in one image and a rust-colored t-shirt that says “Animal” in another. In the third, she is seen sitting on a ledge in the corner of the room, with a pair of naked bodies (that of a woman and that of a man) lurking on either side of her. What is common in all the images? Her white underwear.
“Kristen Stewart wanted her Rolling Stone cover to send a clear message: hypersexualized, left-andro, and flipping the gender script: ‘If I went the entire Twilight series without doing a Rolling Stone cover, it’s because kids were crazy. sex symbols,” he points out. ‘Now I want to do the gayest thing you’ve ever seen in your life,'” read the caption of the other publication.
Reactions
The Internet, however, was not very pleased with the magazine’s cover. One user wrote in the comments section: “They got her dirty. Literally. “This whole session seems physically dirty and Kristen deserves better.” Another commented: “I’m a big fan of Kristen and Rolling Stone, but is it just me or is this shoot not like that?” “A 65-year-old dad, “what happened to rock music?” said another user, recalling that the magazine traditionally covered music.
